How to play Word Search
Start Word Search by looking at the playing area and its controls. Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Look at what changes after your first action.
Each board contains eight target words from the included English word list.
Try a more deliberate round
Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Make the next step deliberately.
The goal to keep in mind
Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Check the rules when you are unsure.
Making your moves
- Select the first and last letter of a straight word.
- Words can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, in either direction.
- Find all eight targets.
- New puzzle shuffles again.
Getting comfortable with the controls
Tap or click endpoints. Use the control method described here for this activity. A new-round button replaces the current round.
Learn from a sample situation
Selecting the endpoints in reverse order also finds the same word. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Check the stated objective.
One detail worth checking
Words cannot turn corners. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
